Bible Verse: Proverbs 14:25 "A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful."
Insight: We are constantly being told lies in this world. This verse sheds light on the fact that there are so lies around us at all times. This is why we should be diligent in clinging to God's word and to His truth. The reality is that as Christians we each have the ability to make such an impact in others' lives because we are bearers of the truth—the gospel. The world around us will do everything in its power to discourage us and oppose us, but we can stand tall in the power of God's truth. Isn't that amazing? We get to make a difference in others' lives simply by knowing and living out the truth. It's not easy to do this, and I don't want to minimize how difficult this is when we live in a world that is in constant opposition to God's character. We are told we will face hardships in this world, we are told about false witnesses, and a life that is in constant opposition, but we are also told about the salvation we have in Jesus. Cling to that truth when the world seems to be bigger than our God. Let's strive to be the truthful witnesses in a time in which there is so much chaos and deceit that surrounds us.
Work application: How can we be witnesses of the truth in an environment that does not typically promote talk about "religion?" If we aren't able to explicitly speak about our faith, we can show the truth in our actions. People may wonder, "How is he doing okay after the stressful day he just had?" or, "how is she so nice to everyone?" The way we conduct ourselves can be a testament to the truth as much as our words are. Sarah Y. Tse, co-author of From Illusion to Reality speaks on building a good work ethic. Part of this lies in the integrity of the employee. Are you an employee that does not compromise the trust of your employer? If you work toward building your character, you will grow into an employee that is consistent and reliable. Taking on this kind of work ethic is a good example of showing our faith in our work lives. When we do everything in excellence as God has called us to do, our faith will be seen by what we do.
Grateful: I am grateful that I serve a God that is the one true God. I am grateful that amidst deceit and confusion, He reigns true.
